Here are some explanations of acronyms used at this website and terms from the world of fandom.

- Carterfox

Carterfox is the successor of Frankenbear (please refer to the entry). The stuffed fox is named after "X-Files" creator Chris Carter will be travelling the world in 2012 to raise money for Save the Waves.
- Cosplay

Short for Costume Play. People who dress up as a character from a movie, tv show, video game, manga, anime or similar.
Usual part of a contest where the best (as in most authentic) costume is awarded.

- Fan Art

Fan Art is art (usually in digital form but in the traditional forms of art as well) dealing with characters of motif from a fandom.This can include (but is not limited to) cosplay, drawings, paintings, collages, edited music videos, songs, self-made films and so on.
- Fandom

A fandom describes a group of people who share a common interest in something, like in "The X-Files". Another term used by the marketing industry is fan-base.
- Fanzine
-
Short form of "Fan Magazine". A periodically publicated collections of essays, FanFiction and/or FanArt, compiled by fans.
- FAQ

FAQ or F.A.Q. is an abbreveation for "Frequently Asked Questions" and a collection of those questions and their answers. Our English FAQ can be found here.
- Frankenbear

also: Frankenbear the Bear. The stuffy animal was names after the "X-Files" Co-producer/writer, which traveled the world in 2009 and 2010. Donations were made by fans for every traveled mile. The revenues of the tour where donated to the American Cancer Society (ACS) in the name of late "X-Files" director/producer Kim Manners.
Frankenbear now resides in a shelf next to a "Golden Globe" and a "Peabody" award in the office of Frank Spotnitz.

- X-Phile

X-Phile is the correct term for a fan of "The X-Files".
It's actually a 3 threefold wordplay:
- it sound phonetically like the show's title
- it's based on the Greek word philos which means "love of"
- the ph is a reference to Internet origin of the fan groups
- XF3

Acronym for X-Files 3, a possible third movie in the X-Files movie franchise.
- XFM
-
Acronym for xfiles-mania.de, largest German X-Files fansite.
- XFN

Acronym for X-Files News - english news portal.
